China has sharply reduced car exports to Russia. Over the past six months of 2025, the supply of cars fell by 2.3 times, and trucks were imported by 4.5 times less. Interfax writes about this with reference to the data of the General Administration of Customs of the PRC.
For the period from January to June, China exported cars to Russia for $ 2.7 billion. This is 57.2 percent less than in the same period last year. In June alone, passenger cars were imported for 428.2 million. This is 66 percent less than in the same month last year. At the same time, by May 2025, the volume of exports grew slightly - by 15.3 percent.
Trucks in January-June were imported in the amount of $287.3 million (-77.6 percent), and in June - by 72.8 million (+ 7.1 percent compared to May).
The volume of supplies of auto parts is also decreasing. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has purchased about a billion dollars worth of Chinese components, which is 9.6 percent less than in the first half of 2024. June's figure is $142.6 million (-5.6 percent compared to May).
Earlier in the State Duma offered to impose tariffs on Chinese cars. Thus, according to the idea of lawmakers, it is possible to protect the domestic automotive industry and stimulate its development.
