BYD Xia debuted at the Chengdu Motor Show in August 2024. Its original name, which was decided not to be retained for export, was a reference to the first dynasty of China in traditional historiography, the Xia (夏). The van entered the domestic market in January 2025.

Three screens are installed in front: the largest, central one, has a diagonal of 15.6 inches, and the dashboard and passenger display are 12.3 inches. For riders, there is a built-in cooling and heated drawer in the back, folding tables and an additional screen fixed to the ceiling.

The export Xia/M9 is equipped with a hybrid system with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 156 horsepower, which plays the role of a generator. A 272-horsepower electric motor is associated with the wheels. There are two batteries to choose from - for 20.4 or 36.6 kilowatt-hours, and the electric range varies from 100 to 180 kilometers.
