According to AUTOSTAT agency, at the end of June 2025, the average price of a used passenger car in Russia was 1 million 427 thousand rubles, thus decreasing by 3.6% for the first half of the year. At the same time, used cars in our country have been getting cheaper since February, that is, for the fifth month in a row. As Roman Titov, Deputy General Director of Used Cars at AG "Avilon", told the agency "AUTOSTAT", there are several reasons for the decrease in prices in the secondary market: used cars naturally gradually age and, accordingly, become cheaper.

But here, most likely, we should talk not only about the aging of the fleet and the decrease in prices, but about the shift in consumer demand due to the decrease in the solvency of buyers towards cheaper cars. "There is also an opinion that due to low demand, sellers are reducing prices in order to sell cars faster, as borrowed money is now very expensive. The decrease in the average selling price will stop or slow down significantly as soon as the demand for used cars starts to grow, and this will depend on the key rate, the growth of the exchange rate, etc.," comments Roman Titov.

According to the commercial director of Pragmatika dealership network, Alexander Shaprinsky, the decrease in prices for used cars in recent months was due to the stimulation of their sales by dealers in order to increase warehouse turnover and free up working capital. In the second half of 2025, prices will increase slightly, and since the moment of the Chinese used car market is formed, prices will begin to increase.
